Men's Plastic Surgery in Seoul

Most men want the same thing from surgery: to look like themselves on a good day. The design has to respect that, and so does the recovery.

The short answer In brief

Men's plastic surgery in Seoul most often involves the eyes and nose: eyelid surgery for heaviness, hooding, under-eye bags or a subtle crease, and rhinoplasty for a straighter or stronger profile. Male faces need different design principles from female faces. At Will Be, Dr. Kim Jun-young plans each procedure to preserve a natural, masculine character.

Men's surgery at Will Be

Men's plastic surgery in Seoul has grown steadily, and the reasons men give are often practical. They want to look less tired at work, to stop being asked whether they have slept, to relieve heavy lids that make the forehead ache, or to correct a nose that has bothered them since an injury. Very few want to look "done".

At Will Be, Dr. Kim Jun-young, representative surgeon, personally performs every consultation, design, operation and follow-up. Men's eye and nose surgery are among the clinic's known areas of work. The principles are the same as for any patient: understand the anatomy, respect individual proportions, and change only what serves the face. What differs is the definition of natural.

How male faces differ

Male and female faces differ in ways that matter surgically. Men typically have a heavier, flatter brow that sits lower, close to the bony rim of the eye socket. Their upper eyelid crease is usually lower, or absent, and the lid skin often thicker. The nose tends to have a straighter or slightly convex bridge, a less upturned tip and a stronger connection with the forehead. The jaw is wider and the overall face more angular.

These differences mean that a design suitable for a woman can look out of place on a man. A high, curved eyelid crease can make a male face look feminine or surprised. An upturned, narrow nasal tip can look delicate in a way that does not suit a strong jaw. Men's surgery at Will Be is designed around these proportions from the start.

Men's eye surgery

Men's eyelid surgery covers several needs: a low, subtle crease for men with monolids who want a more awake look without an obvious fold; relief of heavy or hooded lids with age; ptosis correction when eye opening is weak; and treatment of under-eye bags. The crease, if created, is usually kept low and straight so it is barely noticeable.

Related procedures that men often consider include:

Men's rhinoplasty

Men's rhinoplasty aims for a straight, strong bridge, a tip that is refined but not delicate, and a nasolabial angle (the angle between nose and upper lip) that is closer to a right angle than an upturned one. It may involve raising a low bridge, reducing a dorsal hump, straightening a nose that has been injured, or improving breathing. Skin on male noses is often thicker, which influences how much tip definition is realistic. For approaches used, see non-implant rhinoplasty and dorsal hump correction.

How Dr. Kim approaches men's design

Consultation begins with what you notice and what others say. Dr. Kim then examines your face at rest and in expression, with attention to brow position, lid thickness, eye opening, nasal structure and skin. He explains what is causing the look you dislike and which changes would address it while keeping your character. The emphasis is often on restraint: a change that colleagues sense but cannot name.

Many men also value discretion. Planning recovery around work, choosing incisions that hide well, and keeping changes subtle are part of the conversation.

Why men often delay, and why that is fine

Many men think about eye or nose surgery for years before booking a consultation. Some worry about being judged, others about time away from work, and some simply are not sure whether their concern is "enough" to warrant attention. There is no pressure in this. A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment, and understanding your options can be useful in itself.

It is also true that some concerns become easier to address earlier. Heavy lids tend to become heavier, and the forehead often works harder to compensate, deepening lines over time. Understanding what is happening now helps you decide calmly, whether that means acting soon, waiting, or deciding that nothing needs to change.

Questions men commonly ask

Men often ask practical questions at consultation: Will people notice? Can I exercise, and when? Will I need to take time off, and how much? Will the scar show with short hair or no makeup? These are sensible questions. Incisions around the eyes are placed in natural creases or along the brow, and most people cannot see them once healed. Exercise usually resumes gradually after about two to three weeks. See questions to ask at your consultation for more ideas.

Recovery and returning to work

Recovery depends on the procedure. After incisional eyelid surgery, sutures are typically removed at around five to seven days, and many men return to desk work within one to two weeks, often wearing glasses. After rhinoplasty, a splint is usually worn for about a week. Men sometimes bruise more because of thicker, more vascular skin, and some find it harder to rest. Following aftercare instructions, especially avoiding heavy exercise and alcohol, makes a real difference. See how to reduce swelling and bruising.

Risks

Men's surgery carries the same risks as any eyelid or nose surgery, including bleeding, infection, asymmetry, scarring, and the possibility of revision. Blood pressure control and stopping smoking reduce bleeding and healing problems. Each procedure page explains specific risks and how they are minimised.

Travelling to Seoul

Most men plan about 7–10 days in Seoul for eye or nose surgery. Many prefer to schedule surgery around a holiday period, so visible swelling fades before returning to work. A virtual consultation with photos helps you plan ahead. The clinic is in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam, near Sinsa Station.

Frequently asked questions

Still wondering about something? Ask Dr. Kim directly — every consultation at Will Be is with the surgeon himself.

What is the most common plastic surgery for men in Korea?

Eyelid procedures are among the most common for men, including subtle double eyelid creation, upper blepharoplasty for heavy lids, ptosis correction and under-eye bag surgery. Rhinoplasty is also frequently requested. Most men seek changes that make them look more rested or balanced rather than visibly altered.

Will a double eyelid look feminine on a man?

It can, if the crease is too high or curved. For men, a crease is usually designed low and fairly straight, often only a few millimeters above the lashes, so it looks natural and masculine. Some men prefer only to relieve heaviness without creating a visible fold, which is also possible.

How soon can I go back to work after eyelid surgery?

Many men return to desk work around one week after incisional eyelid surgery, once sutures are removed, often wearing glasses. Some swelling remains for another one to two weeks. Non-incisional methods typically allow a quicker return. If your work is public-facing or physical, planning a little more time is sensible.

Is men's rhinoplasty different from women's?

Yes. Men's rhinoplasty generally aims for a straighter, stronger bridge, less tip rotation and a less refined tip that suits a larger, more angular face. Male nasal skin is often thicker, which affects how much definition is possible. Over-refining a male nose is a common cause of dissatisfaction.

Can men combine eye and nose surgery?

It is sometimes possible, depending on health, the procedures involved and your preferences for recovery. Combining can mean one recovery period, but also more swelling at once. Dr. Kim will advise whether combining is sensible for you, or whether staging the procedures would be safer and more comfortable.
