Double Eyelid Surgery Cost in Korea: What Shapes Your Quote

Cost matters, and you deserve a clear explanation of it. What you pay for, in the end, is judgement: a crease designed for your eyes.

The short answer In brief

Double eyelid surgery cost in Korea depends on the technique, whether ptosis correction or corner procedures are added, whether it is a first or revision operation, the anesthesia used, and what aftercare is included. A reliable quote is given only after the surgeon has assessed your eyelids, ideally in person.

Why there is no single price for double eyelid surgery

Double eyelid surgery cost in Korea is often discussed online as if it were a fixed product. It is not. Two people asking for "double eyelid surgery" may need very different operations. One may have thin skin and a strong eye-opening muscle, suited to a quick suture-based method. Another may have thick skin, excess fat, a weak levator(the muscle that lifts the lid) and an epicanthal fold(the skin fold over the inner corner of the eye). The second case involves more steps, more time and more judgement.

That is why Will Be does not publish a single figure. The pricing and quotes page explains the clinic's general approach: a quote reflects your eyelids, the plan agreed with Dr. Kim Jun-young, representative surgeon, and what is included in your care.

What affects double eyelid surgery cost in Korea?

  • Technique. A suture-based approach such as Ten-Minute Natural Adhesion double eyelid surgery usually involves less operating time than incisional double eyelid surgery, which may include removing skin, fat or muscle.
  • Eye-opening strength. If mild ptosis is present, correcting the lid height with ptosis correction adds complexity and time.
  • Added procedures. Inner or outer corner work, fat removal, or lower-lid procedures change the scope of surgery.
  • First surgery or revision. Revision involves scar tissue and often reconstruction, so it is usually priced separately.
  • Anesthesia. Local anesthesia alone, local with sedation, and general anesthesia involve different staff, monitoring and time.
  • Aftercare. Follow-up visits, stitch removal, medication and remote check-ins after you go home.

For a wider explanation of these factors, see what affects the price of surgery.

What a quote should include

A clear quote lists what you are paying for, so you can compare like with like. Ask whether it covers:

  1. Consultation and pre-operative assessment.
  2. The surgery itself, with each procedure named.
  3. Anesthesia and monitoring.
  4. Any pre-operative tests required.
  5. Prescribed medication.
  6. Stitch removal and follow-up visits in Seoul.
  7. Remote follow-up after you return home.
  8. The clinic's policy if a revision is needed, and what it would cost.

Travel, accommodation, interpreter services outside the clinic and personal expenses are usually separate.

Why a remote quote is provisional

Photos are helpful, and they allow an initial plan. But they cannot show skin thickness, how strongly the eyelid opens, how the fold behaves when you blink, or the tension of the inner-corner fold. These details are assessed by hand and in motion. A quote given after a virtual consultation is therefore provisional: it may change after the in-person examination in Seoul if the findings differ from what the photos suggested. Will Be will always explain any change before surgery, and you are free to decide.

Good photographs make remote estimates more reliable. See how to take photos for an online consultation.

Planning the whole cost of your trip

For patients coming from abroad, the surgical quote is only part of the picture. Plan also for flights, accommodation for the full recovery period, local transport, meals, and a small margin for extending your stay if your surgeon advises it. Travel insurance that covers medical travel is worth reviewing carefully, since many standard policies exclude elective surgery. Some patients also budget for a companion's travel.

These costs are easier to control when the medical plan is clear early. A realistic recovery timeline, agreed before you book flights, avoids expensive changes later. It is also sensible to keep some flexibility in your return date, in case the check-up suggests a few more days in Seoul would be wise.

VAT refund for foreign patients

Korea has at times offered a value-added tax (VAT) refund to eligible foreign patients for certain cosmetic procedures performed at participating clinics. Whether the scheme is in effect on your treatment date, which procedures qualify, and how a refund is claimed can all change. Treat it as a possibility to check, not a figure to plan around, and confirm the current rules with the clinic and official sources before you rely on it. Our page on payment and VAT refund for foreign patients explains the process in general terms.

Red flags: when a price seems too good

A lower price is not automatically a warning, and a higher one is not automatically a sign of quality. But some patterns deserve a second look:

  • A fixed price quoted before anyone has seen your eyes.
  • Pressure to book quickly, such as a discount that expires today.
  • Uncertainty about who will actually operate, or a consultation with someone other than the surgeon.
  • A quote that does not name the technique or procedures included.
  • Follow-up care, anesthesia or medication that appear later as extras.
  • Promotions that bundle procedures you did not ask for.
  • Vague answers about what happens if a revision is needed.

At Will Be, Dr. Kim personally carries out every consultation and operation, so the person who quotes the plan is the person who performs it.

Thinking about value, not only price

Eyelid surgery is small in scale but large in effect. The crease will sit on your face every day for years. When comparing clinics, weigh the surgeon's approach to design, how clearly risks are explained, how revision is handled, and how follow-up works when you are far from Seoul. Those things are harder to compare than a number, but they matter more.

It is also worth considering the cost of getting it wrong. A crease that is too high, uneven or unstable may later need revision, which is usually more complex than the first operation. Choosing a plan and a surgeon carefully the first time is, in practical terms, one of the most important financial decisions in the process.

A good consultation should leave you understanding your own eyelids better, whatever you decide.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Still wondering about something? Ask Dr. Kim directly — every consultation at Will Be is with the surgeon himself.

How much does double eyelid surgery cost in Korea?

There is no single price, because the operation varies from person to person. Cost depends on the technique, whether ptosis correction or corner procedures are needed, whether it is a revision, the anesthesia used and what aftercare is included. A quote is given after the surgeon assesses your eyelids, and any remote estimate is confirmed in person.

Why does incisional surgery usually cost more than a suture method?

Incisional double eyelid surgery generally takes longer and may involve removing skin, fat or muscle and closing a fine incision. It also typically requires more follow-up, including stitch removal. Suture-based methods involve less tissue handling. The difference in complexity and time is reflected in the quote, though your anatomy determines which technique is suitable.

Is the quote from an online consultation final?

No. A quote after an online consultation is provisional. Photos cannot show skin thickness, eyelid muscle strength or how the fold behaves in motion. After the in-person examination in Seoul, the plan and quote may be adjusted. At Will Be, any change is explained before surgery, and the decision remains yours.

Can foreign patients get a VAT refund on eyelid surgery in Korea?

Korea has at times offered a VAT refund for eligible foreign patients on certain cosmetic procedures at participating clinics. Whether it applies on your treatment date, and to which procedures, can change. Confirm the current rules with the clinic and official sources before relying on it, and keep all receipts and documents the process requires.

What should a double eyelid surgery quote include?

A clear quote should name each procedure, and state whether it covers consultation, anesthesia, pre-operative tests, medication, stitch removal, follow-up visits and remote aftercare. It should also explain the clinic's policy on revision. Travel, accommodation and personal expenses are usually separate. Ask for anything unclear to be written down.

Is a very low price for double eyelid surgery a warning sign?

Not always, but it deserves questions. Be cautious if a price is fixed before anyone examines your eyes, if you are pressured to book quickly, if it is unclear who will operate, or if follow-up and anesthesia are excluded. Understanding exactly what is included protects you more than the headline figure does.
