Epicanthoplasty Before and After Photos Korea
Epicanthoplasty reshapes the fold of skin over the inner corner of the eye by redistributing the skin and releasing its tension. All 16 cases here were combined with another procedure, most often ptosis correction, so the inner corner is best judged together with the crease.
With ptosis correction 13 cases
Inner-corner reshaping performed together with incisional or non-incisional eye-opening correction.

What to look at in these photos
- How much of the inner corner is revealed. A natural result opens it gently rather than fully.
- Whether the crease now starts more smoothly or runs more parallel from the inner corner.
- The apparent distance between the eyes. Epicanthoplasty is not advised when the eyes are already close-set.
When the result settles
Stitches usually come out at around 5–7 days. Redness at the inner corner fades over roughly 2–8 weeks and the scar keeps softening for 3–6 months, depending on skin type.
Lighting, angle and the time since surgery all change how a photo looks, so compare like with like.
Frequently asked questions
Will epicanthoplasty leave a scar?
There is a small scar at the inner corner. It stays pink for several weeks and usually fades over 3–6 months, though healing depends on your skin. People prone to thick scarring may not be suitable.
Can epicanthoplasty be reversed?
Partly, but reversal is complex and less predictable than the original operation. For that reason Dr. Kim designs epicanthoplasty conservatively.
Who should not have epicanthoplasty?
It is generally not advised when the eyes are already close-set, when the inner fold is mild, or for people who tend to form thick scars. The inner fold is normal anatomy, so it is changed only when that clearly suits the face.
