What to look at in these photos
- Tip shape and definition, which take longest to settle.
- Bridge height in profile. Implant-free surgery raises the bridge only modestly.
- Whether the nose suits the rest of the face from the front and the side.
When the result settles
The splint and stitches usually come out at around 5–7 days and social recovery takes 2–3 weeks. The tip can stay swollen for months, and the final shape develops over 6–12 months.
Lighting, angle and the time since surgery all change how a photo looks, so compare like with like.
Frequently asked questions
Can implant-free rhinoplasty raise the bridge?
Only modestly, using diced or layered cartilage. If you want a much higher bridge, an implant may suit your goals better, and Dr. Kim will explain the trade-offs.
Why does the nose tip stay swollen for so long?
Thicker skin and slower drainage at the tip mean swelling there settles last, often over many months.
Where does the cartilage come from?
Usually from the septum inside the nose or from the ear, and occasionally from the rib when more support is needed.
